I need to be honest with you about this newsletter.
For a while now it hasn't really been me. My team have put it together, and they've done a good job of it. A topic, a few lessons, what other people are saying. It's tidy. But I think it's been a bit sterile, and that's not what I want. And I don't think it's what you want either.
So it's changing, starting today.
Once a week, I'm going to sit down and tell you a story. One of mine. A decision I had to make, what the voice in my head was telling me at the time, and what I actually did.
Despite this letter being about success, a lot of them will be things I got wrong.
So here's the first one: why I'm making this change to this newsletter.
Over the last 18 months it has become harder and harder to tell what is genuine. I know how off-putting it is to open a personal newsletter that could have been written by anyone. I don't want mine to be one of those.
I want to respect your time, and, if you'll let me, tell you a little bit about my experiences across life, business, and how it makes me feel.
And right as I'm sitting here writing this, my head is telling me:
"Why are you changing something that's working?"
And to its credit it's got a point. It's a risk, like everything. There will be people who only want the kind of stuff that was in these letters before. That's fine. I think it's the right thing to do, and what I've found is that voice usually turns up when I'm doing something that actually matters.
This newsletter is called The Success Method, and let's be honest, that can sound like I've got it all worked out. I haven't. What I've found is that most of what I know came from getting it wrong first.
Somebody has to fail for somebody else to know how to succeed.
And more often than I'd care to admit, that somebody was me.
You may have to give me permission to not get this perfect right away. Some weeks it'll be short. Some stories will land better than others. But it'll be me, and it'll be genuine.
And I don't want to keep you waiting so I will release a full edition early next week. After that I'll be returning to my weekly Sunday cadence.
So talk to me about the decision you're sitting on right now. It'll give me a better idea which stories to tell first next week.
Until then,
- Luke
